RF & Wireless Wireless Trango Introduces The Lynx Series With Full Gigabit Capacity Trango Systems, Inc., a provider of high-capacity point-to-point microwave backhaul solutions is introducing the new Lynx series of products, capable of true 1 Gbps system throughput and up to 1.5 Gbps. Trango has announced today that the company is in full production and shipping the new Lynx series of wireless backhaul systems. The Lynx series point-to-point microwave radios are available for all worldwide standard licensed frequency bands from 6 to 42 GHz. Lynx series base line models include 440 Mbps available throughput, Physical Link Aggregation (PLA) which enables 2+0 operation at the physical link level, and a programmable packet buffer up to 2 MB to absorb „bursty“ traffic and improve TCP performance. Optional Lynx capabilities include throughput speeds of 761 Mbps full duplex and 256- bit AES hardware encryption. The Lynx series is available in two form factors. The Apex Lynx is and all-outdoor system and the Giga Lynx is a split-mount Software Agilent Technologies’ Signal Studio Software Enables Cost-Effective WLAN DFS Testing Agilent Technologies Inc. introduced dedicated dynamic frequency selection (DFS) radar-profile creation software to provide engineers performing DFS testing with predefined radar signals that support profiles defined by multiple regulatory agencies. DFS is a spectrum-sharing mechanism for wireless devices operating in the unlicensed 5-GHz band with military and radar systems. By monitoring spectrum, it is able to switch the wireless device to a different frequency or channel when a military or radar device is detected on the channel currently in use. DFS is particularly critical for enabling 802.11ac WLANs to coexist with radar systems. DFS testing ensures the compliance of wireless devices operating in the 5-GHz band with DFS requirements of published standards from around the world. Agilent’s new N7607B Signal Studio for DFS Radar Profiles software provides an easy-to-use, cost-effective solution for WLAN DFS testing. Based on Agilent’s general-purpose vector signal generators, it can be used to generate DFS radar signals compliant with FCC-, ETSI- and TELEC-defined profiles. Additionally, it can create a Trial List table with unique trials and features usereditable parameters within a standard defined range that can be saved and recalled for repeatability tests. The N7607B can be teamed with the N7617B Signal Studio for WLAN 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, which is used for WLAN test signal creation, and integrated with a signal generator, signal analyzer and other generalpurpose hardware to set up a total solution for WLAN performance test, including DFS functional testing. For existing Agilent signal generator or signal analyzer customers, this capability results in a dramatic cost savings. ■ Agilent Technologies Inc www.agilent.com system. RF & Wireless Components Next-generation WPC 1.1 Wireless Power Receiver for Portable Applications Integrated Device Technology, Inc. (IDT) announced a new wireless power receiver meeting the Wireless Power Consortium’s (WPC) 1.1 “Qi” specification and optimized for high-volume portable consumer applications. The IDTP9025 is a single-chip wireless power receiver IC certified to meet the requirements of the WPC 1.1 specification, offering improved foreign object detection (FOD) compared to earlier versions of the standard. The highly-integrated device includes an onboard synchronous full-bridge rectifier and low-resistance low-dropout (LDO) regulator, enabling customers to achieve excellent power transfer efficiency with minimal external component count and board space. The highefficiency, costeffective design is ideal for use in high-volume portable devices where battery life and physical size are a primary concern, such as in smartphones, tablets, and related accessories. For added control, IDTP9025 is capable of passing communication and power transfer information to a local microcontroller, as well as fault and safety monitors, through the integrated I2C port. This allows the customer to build custom control algorithms and user interfaces to enhance the user experience. In addition to an evaluation kit with WPCcertified reference design, IDT supports its customers with a design-in guide and powerful support tools to further ease the development process. ■ IDT www.wirelesspowerbyidt. com www.idt.com 80 W GaN Amplifier for S-Band Radar from TriQuint Semiconductor RFMW, Ltd. announced design and sales support for the TGA2814, S-Band amplifier from TriQuint Semiconductor. The TGA2814 covers 3.1 to 3.6 GHz with up to 80 W pulsed Psat and power added efficiency as high as 56%. Using 0.25 µm GaN technology, this twostage amplifier provides 25 dB of gain while drawing only 125 mA from a 30 V source. The TriQuint TGA2814 is available in DIE format for applications requiring high output power with high power added efficiency. ■ TriQuint Semiconductor Stocking Distributor RFMW, Ltd. info@rfmw.com www.rfmw.com TriQuint High Gain Power Doubler available from RFMW RFMW, Ltd. announced design, sales support and availability of TriQuint Semiconductor’s TAT8804D1H ultra-linear GaAs amplifier MMIC intended for output stage amplification in CATV infrastructure applications where flat gain and low distortion are key considerations. This 12 V power doubler features 21 dB gain at 1200 Wireless Tesco Mobile launches 4G coverage checker powered by SpatialBuzz SpatialBuzz, an innovative cloud-based customer experience analytics and service monitoring platform for network operators, has announced that Tesco Mobile has launched its online coverage checker, a component of SpatialBuzz’s cloudbased customer experience management (CEM) software solution. Introduced to coincide with the recent launch of Tesco Mobile’s 4G service, the SpatialBuzz software provides customers with real-time access to detailed coverage maps for both 2G and 3G as well as for 4G. The SpatialBuzz online coverage checker means that MHz with a P1dB of 34 dBm. The TAT8804D1H high gain allows it to replace two existing competitor’s amplifiers thereby reducing part count, board space and overall BOM cost while reducing power dissipation by up to 30%. TriQuint’s TAT8804D1H comes in a 40-pin, 5x7 mm QFN package. ■ TriQuint Semiconductor Stocking Distributor RFMW, Ltd. info@rfmw.com www.rfmw.com both existing and potential customers of Tesco Mobile will be able to check whether 4G coverage is adequate in their area before making a decision to purchase or upgrade to the new 4G service. “The network coverage checker powered by Spatial- Buzz has already been proven on the Telefónica O2 websites in both the UK and in Germany, and in handset apps. This launch means that Tesco Mobile customers can now enjoy the same level of transparency about network coverage that has already set O2 apart from its competitors”, said Andrew Blake, CTO of SpatialBuzz. “The customer can determine whether the 4G phone they plan to buy will provide adequate network coverage in the area in which they intend to use it, and thus avoid costly mistakes.” ■ SpatialBuzz www.spatialbuzz.com. hf-praxis 1/2014 43
