RF & Wireless Oscillators New High-Frequency Ultra-Low Jitter Oscillators Euroquartz is launching two new ranges of oscillators at the Embedded Design Show (EDS 2017, October 18th & 19th, Ricoh Arena, Coventry, UK). Offering ultra-low phase jitter of 150 fs typical, the new oscillators are produced in the UK and are available in frequencies from 50 to 2100 MHz with a choice of outputs including LVPECL, LVDS and CML differential. High current steering logic (HCSL) differential outputs are available for oscillators up to 700 MHz. EQJF series oscillators feature a choice of supply voltages – 1.8, 2.5 or 3.3 V – across the range apart from LVPECL with 2.5 and 3.3V only. Frequency stability specifications of ±25, ±50 and ±100 ppm over both commercial (-10 to +70 °C) and industrial (-40 to +85 °C) temperature ranges are available as standard with tighter custom options supplied to special order. Complementing the EQJF series is the EQVJF range of voltage controlled crystal oscillators (VCXOs) offering frequencies from 150 to 2100 MHz (HCSL 150 to 700 MHz) with identical options and similar RMS phase jitter performance. Both ranges feature maximum ageing of ±3 ppm in first year (±2 ppm per year thereafter), duty cycle of 50% ±5%, rise times of 0.35 ns maximum (0.4 ns for HCSL) and current consumption from 70 to 100 mA typical depending on output logic selected. Additional features include start-up time of 5 ms typical, 10 ms maximum and output enable/ disable functions. RoHS compliant, the new EQJF oscillators and EQVJF VCXOs are housed in industry standard 8-pad, 7 x 5 mm surface mount packages capable of withstanding 260 °C for 10 s, twice. Applications include flat panel displays for consumer TVs, video streaming systems via external cables (e.g. LDI), high speed serial communications links such as Serial ATA & FireWire, SONET, xDSL, SDH, set-top box and Ethernet cards. ■ Euroquartz, Ltd. www.euroquartz.co.uk Products Low-Power/Mid-Range FPGAs Interoperate with Wideband RF Transceiver Microsemi Corporation announced its cost-optimized, low-power, mid-range PolarFire field programmable gate array (FPGA) is now interoperable with Analog Devices, Inc.’s AD9371 wideband integrated radio frequency (RF) transceiver via a JESD204B interface. Customers considering the AD9371 – which offers dual channel transmitters and receivers, integrated synthesizers and digital signal processing functions – can utilize Microsemi’s PolarFire FPGAs to interface and interoperate with JESD204B, while utilizing lower power implementation than competing devices. Microsemi’s PolarFire FPGAs feature a 12.7 Gbps transceiver fully optimized to be area efficient and low power, resulting in total power of less than 90 mW at 10 Gbps. Its intellectual property (IP) cores, which implement the transmitter and receiver interfaces of the JESD204B standard, are easy to integrate with JESD204B-based data converters. They support link widths from x1 to x8, and link rates from 250 Mbps to 12.5 Gbps per lane using subclass 0, 1 and 2. While Polar- Fire FPGAs are ideal for multiple markets, the interoperability with Analog Devices’ AD9371 RF transceiver makes the devices particularly suitable for the wireless communications, defense and industrial markets, including high bandwidth applications such as remote radio head (RRH) and active antennae, test and measurement equipment, software defined radios, massive MIMO and small cells. 18-GHz SPDT Switch Handles 1000 W Microsemi offers a reference design for customers to run the JESD204B Interface on its PolarFire Evaluation Kit using the JESD204B standalone demonstration graphical user interface (GUI) application. The reference design is built using PolarFire’s high-speed transceiver blocks and the Core- JESD204BTX and CoreJESD204BRX IP cores. The reference design and GUI application are available for Microsemi’s Libero SoC PolarFire Design Suite. All customers with a Libero gold (included with kit) or platinum license can access the JESD204B IP cores for no additional fee. Microsemi provides a complete solution for implementing the JEDEC JESD204B, a high-speed serial interface standard for data converters which reduces the number of data inputs and outputs between high-speed data converters and receivers. Microsemi’s CoreJESD204BTX (transmitter) can be used to interface to JESD204B-compliant DAC devices and its CoreJESD204BRX (receiver) can be used to interface to JESD204Bcompliant ADC devices. Microsemi’s PolarFire FPGAs are designed to rethink how the industry has traditionally viewed FPGAs with mid-range densities, as the devices are the first non-volatile FPGAs providing more power and cost savings in comparison to SRAM FPGA solutions with 10G transceivers, advanced input/output (I/O), high security and digital signal processor (DSP) capabilities. The devices have embedded, high-speed transceiver blocks that can handle data rates ranging from 250 Mbps to 12.5 Gbps. The transceiver (PF_XCVR) module integrates several functional blocks to support multiple high-speed serial protocols within the FPGA. ■ Microsemi, Corp. sales.support@microsemi.com www.microsemi.com RLC Electronics is proud to announce the addition of a high-power 18 GHz SPDT switch with N connectors to its product capabilities.
