Software New ADS

Software New ADS Software to Further Advance Single-, Multi- Technology Design of RF Power Amplifiers Agilent Technologies Inc. announced shipment of Advanced Design System 2012, its flagship RF and microwave EDA software platform. ADS 2012 features new capabilities that improve productivity and efficiency for all applications the system supports and breakthrough technologies applicable to GaAs, GaN and silicon RF power-amplifier multichip module design. The capabilities and breakthroughs now available to new and existing ADS users include: • User interface enhancements designed to improve design efficiency and productivity, such as dockable windows for quickly accessing frequently used dialog boxes. • Updated Load Pull and Amplifier Design Guides, which offer mismatch simulation and make it easy to see amplifier performance at a specific output power level or a specific amount of gain, respectively. • Dramatically improved integration with EMPro, which enables 3-D electromagnetic component designs to be saved as database cells for use directly in ADS. • A new ADS electro-thermal simulator that incorporates dynamic temperature effects to improve accuracy in „thermally aware“ circuit-simulation results. • Multichip module electromagnetic simulation setup and Finite Element Method simulation of different technologies to analyze electro- Test & Measurement High-Precision PXI Frequency Reference Module for Electronic Measurements Agilent Technologies Inc. introduced a high-precision PXIe frequency reference. The Agilent M9300A generates clean 10-MHz and 100-MHz signals for highperformance RF systems. Agilent designed the M9300A for applications that require a low phase noise, 100-MHz local oscillator, such as those in a wide variety of wireless and aerospace/defense test systems. The new frequency reference is packaged into a one-slot PXIe module and uses a fractional-N design which minimizes phase noise and spurs. The M9300A features the ability to lock to an external reference from 1 to 110 MHz and provide flexibility with multiple outputs all with excellent performance: • Five 100-MHz-outputs each with nominal phase noise performance of 10 dBm output amplitude. • One 10-MHz-output. • One 10-MHz-OCXO timebase output with phase noise of

RF & Wireless magnetic interactions between circuits and interconnects, wire bond and flipchip solder bumps in typical multichip RF power-amplifier modules. • Model support for Agilent‘s artificial neural network-based NeuroFET model(extracted by Agilent‘s IC-CAP device modeling software) to enable more accurate FET modeling and simulation results. Currently supported Agilent customers interested in the ADS 2012 breakthroughs and features should contact their local applications engineer or field sales person for more information. This new bidirectional design with either a type N male or type N female connector on one end can be directly attached to LMR-400 cable via the same standard EZ non-solder interface used on other EZ-400 non-solder style connectors and utilizes the same CST-400 prep tool and either the CT-400/300 crimp tool or combination of the HX-4 crimp handle and Y1719 (0.429" hex) crimp dies for installation. The protector which handles up to 150 watts of RF power and allows for up 72 volts of DC voltage to be supplied on the center pin of the coaxial cable eliminates the two connectors normally needed thereby reducing insertion loss, return loss and lowering cost. The LP-18-400-N series is the perfect RF equipment protection solution for any application requiring RF only or RF plus DC voltage and current to power tower top mounted electronics. The LP-18- 400-N body is IP67 rated making it suitable for outdoor as well as indoor installations and its white bronze plated housing ensures durability and long life. ■ Times Microwave Systems www.timesmicro.com Wireless Telecom Group offers new line of DAS Carrier Conditioners Micro Lambda Wireless, Inc. announces the production release of Bench Test Frequency Synthesizers covering the frequency range of 2 GHz to 20 GHz in customers specified frequency bands. Utilizing the MLSP-Series of frequency synthesizers, units provide +10 dBm to +13 dBm output power levels and are specified over the standard lab environment of +15 °C to +55 °C temperature range. All units consist of a frequency synthesizer, AC power supply, heat sink with fan, key pad, tuning knob, frequency display and driver circuitry all housed in a compact bench top box. Units can be tuned over the specified frequency range by a mechanical knob, Keypad, USB and Ethernet. Package size is 4“ x 10“ x 13“. Applications include Production Test Stands, ATE and General Purpose applications. ■ Micro Lambda Wireless www.microlambdawireless.com Microlab, a Wireless Telecom Group company is introducing a new product line for both in-Building and outdoor DAS applications, the DCC Series DAS Carrier Conditioners. These products are equally suited for passive DAS venues and for active fiber DAS installations. DCC Series DAS interfaces allow for a wide variety of configurations, starting from simple two-port combining, to multi-carrier multi-band systems with integrated low pim, high power attenuators plus variable attenuators and monitoring ports. "DAS designers and installers need reliable DAS interfacing solutions, and they need them quickly. Not only is Microlab's product technology leading edge, the company has also gained a reputation of being a quality leader," states Wolfgang Damm, Product Marketing Director of the Wireless Telecom Group. Microlab's DCC Series can be configured for any frequency band combination from 698 MHz to 2700 MHz, other frequencies are available upon request. Flexible architecture allows selecting anything from single band, single carrier to multi-band, multi-carrier configurations. PIM specifications at the Tx input ports are lower than –150 dBc (-155 dBc typ), measured with 2 x 43 dBm signals. Fixed attenuators of the DCC Series(tm) for power levels from 10 W to 100 W, and with 3, 6, 10, 15, 20 and 30 dB attenuation can be selected. Variable attenuators provide an additional attenuation range of 0 to 30 dB. Monitor ports allow for uninterrupted system monitoring and dynamic system optimization. DCC Series DAS Carrier Conditioners are available off the shelf or can be configured and shipped soon after the customer's inquiry. ■ Wireless Telecom Group www.wtcom.com hf-praxis 2/2013 41
