Test & Measurement

Test & Measurement Pulsed RF Counter/Analyzer supports advanced pulsed radar and Doppler radar testing Spectracom announced its new Pulsed RF Counter/Analyzer, which further expands the capabilities of the company‘s world leading line of frequency analysis instruments. The new pulsed RF measurement capability is particularly valuable for testing military and civilian radar systems in R&D, manufacturing, and service and maintenance. Combined with all the features of the world‘s fastest microwave counter, the Pendulum CNT- 90XL, is a high-performance tool at a price point far below microwave sampling oscilloscopes, signal source analyzers and spectrum analyzers. With high-resolution measurements of radar pulses down to 50 ns, and with carrier frequencies up to 60 GHz, the new CNT-90XL sets a new industry standard for pulsed RF measurements. The new pulsed RF features adds a new dimension to the standard capabilities of the CNT- 90XL for pulsed and Doppler radars, which includes a 60 GHz frequency range, ultrahigh measurement speed of 250 ksamples/s of frequency and power measurements, to allow AM and FM modulation analysis and accurate testing of fast Doppler radar shifts. ■ Spectracom/Orolia www.orolia.com Portable PIM Testers with Extended Tx Power Range: The PIM+ AWT Global has launched a new line of portable Passive Intermodulation (PIM) Testers with an extended carrier power range: the PIM+ series. These systems are equally suited for testing macro cells as well as outdoor and in-building DAS installations. While 2 x 20 W (2 x 43 dBm) carrier power is the reference for standard for PIM test systems, the new PIM+ offers an extended adjustable power range of +15 dBm to +44 dBm for each carrier. This low power capability is required for testing components that are designed for use in low power in-building DAS applications. Additionally, the new PIM+ can utilize only a single amplifier as a signal generator for insertion loss testing, when needed. Important measurement options like return loss (VSWR), Distance to Fault (DTF) and Distance to PIM (DTP) are fully integrated into the tester, making it very convenient for field work. AWT Globals Portable PIM+ Test Systems are designed to withstand harsh environmental conditions and are delivered with Solid State Drives (SSD) to ensure flawless functionality. PIM+ testers are powerful yet compact and very easy to operate, which makes them ideal for testing and analyzing telecommunications network infrastructures. PIM+ portable testers are available for 700, 850, 900, 1800, 1900, 2100 and 2600 MHz mobile communications bands. ■ AWT Global LLC www.awt-global.com Wireless ConnectBlue Presents a High-Performing Bluetooth Access Point connectBlue launched the rugged Bluetooth Access Point RBE221s which provides a reliable and robust Bluetooth connection between the Ethernet based infrastructure and industrial equipment. The new Access Point RBE221s is a complete Bluetooth to Ethernet enabler as it connects up to seven Bluetooth devices to the 10/100 Base-T- Ethernet network. The RBE221s offers a maintenance-free connection that operates 24-7 regardless of EMC conditions, dust, humidity, temperature variations, and rapid movement changes. Supporting point-to-multipoint connectivity with seven slaves/clients simultaneously, the aggregate data rate between the Bluetooth clients and the RBE221s is 1 Mbps. Depending on the connected device, the wireless range can be up to 300 meters. The RBE221s supports the two Personal Area Network (PAN) roles PAN User (PANU) and Network Access Point (NAP). The RBE221s Bluetooth Access Point can be 48 hf-praxis 3/2013

RF & Wireless News configured smoothly either via physical configuration buttons and indication LEDs or a web interface. For those that wish to access more advanced settings and use cases, one can also configure the RBE221s through AT Commands and SNMP protocol. Other sought for features include the connectBlue Low Emission Mode for not disrupting other 2.4GHz radios, Simple Pairing, Quality of Service (QoS), iPad support, and Android device support. ■ connectBlue info@connectblue.comwww. connectblue.com New Family of 400 MHz Solid-State RF Amplifiers The new event dedicated to rf, microwaves, wireless and optical fiber Launched in 2012 to meet the demands of actors working in the domain of radiofrequencies, microwaves, wireless and fibre optic, Microwave & RF is a show centred on its market, highly qualitative and professional, but which aims to be friendly and on a human scale. The show gathered nearly 2,400 highly qualified, professional visitors. As for the year 2013, it will reunite some 90 exhibitors, manufacturers or distributors of products or technologies in the domains of instrumentation and testing, equipment, active and passive components, EMC, as well as design and simulation software and of course, sub-assemblies, systems and sub-contracting. High-tech conferences For its first edition last April, Microwave & RF had great success with its conferences, the themes of which, based on trends, were followed with interest by more than 500 attendees. For 2013, these attendees will be able to update their knowledge in terms of EMC thanks to the conferences organised by the AFCEM, over 4 specific sessions: • EMC in new technologies: The implications of EMC in recent progress in electronics. From the chip to modern digital networks – Chairman of the session - Mr Michel Mardiguian. • EMC in aeronautics - Session chair Mrs Geneviève Deville. • Collaborative projects in EMC - Session chair Mr. Jérôme Mollet. • EMC in radio communications - Session chair Mr. Vincent Lamaud. Still totally in phase with contemporary problems, the other Microwave & RF conferences will offer visitors an essential addition to their stand visits, and particularly the ideal opportunity to focus on all the subjects relevant to their profession. Here are the first retained topics: • RF and Optic for communication and detection applications - Session chair Mr. Yan Haentjens - Vectrawave. • RF MEMS - Session chair Mr. Philippe Eudeline - Thales Air Systems. • The backhaul of LTE, a chance for microwaves - Session chair Mr. François Magne - Bluwan The challenge and the market • The solutions: fibre, lines and point-to-multipoint communication, their part in the market. • The associated technologies: the opportunity for millimetric, MMIC, SIP, patch and lens Antennae, GaN... • Antennas for New Generation Wireless Mobile Terminals and Networks - Design, Performances Assessment and Exposure Considerations - Session chair Mr. Benoit Derat - Art-Fi. Application and product conferences: Presented by the exhibitors, the application conferences are a bonus which allows the visitors to comprehend a product, a methodology and a vision in a visual and concrete manner. Exhibition contact : Sylvie COHEN – BIRP ■ s.cohen@infoexpo.fr, Organization : BIRP AR RF/Microwave Instrumentation has introduced a new family of solid-state RF amplifiers that instantaneously covers the 10 kHz - 400 MHz frequency range with both 200 watt and 400 watt models. The amplifiers are designed to deliver all the power required for applications using MIL-STD, DO 160, and other automotive standards. These models can be used independently or with AR‘s RF conducted immunity generators when specific tests require higher powers than our standard CI Systems can generate. Model 200A400 and Model 400A400 (the 200 and 400 watt models, respectively) each utilize the highly linear devices in all high power stages to reduce distortion and improve stability. Each model is equipped with a Digital Control Panel (DCP), which provides both local and remote control of the amplifier. The display provides operational presentation of Forward Power and Reflected Power plus control status and reports of internal amplifier status. Special features include a gain control, forward RF sample port, and a reflective RF sample port for precise power measurements. ■ AR RF/Microwave Instrumentation www.arworld.us hf-praxis 3/2013 49
