Test & Measurement Agilent Technologies Introduces New Oscilloscope Options to Provide More Performance at Lower Cost Agilent introduced enhancements to its InfiniiVision 2000 X-Series oscilloscopes that provide more performance at a lower cost. The new capabilities for the InfiniiVision 2000 X-Series bring more memory - up to 1 M per channel - and a variety of lowcost serial decoding options for computer and embedded systems designers, as well as automotive and aerospace manufacturers. The Agilent InfiniiVision 2000 X- Series offers bandwidths from 70 MHz to 200 MHz and boasts the fastest waveform update rate in its class for superior viewing of signal detail and infrequent events. Agilent InfiniiVision 2000 X-Series oscilloscopes enable engineers and technicians to: • See more of their signal more of the time: InfiniiVision 2000 X-Series models provide the fastest update rates in their class and an 8.5-inch WVGA display. • InfiniiVision 2000 X-Series oscilloscopes offer optional integrated MSO capability for time-aligned digital and analog signal viewing, an optional integrated function generator, a digital voltmeter, and optional hardware-accelerated serial protocol analysis. • The InfiniiVision 2000 X-Series is the only fully upgradable (including bandwidth) oscilloscope in its class. Optional measurement software packages add functionality, either at time of purchase or as needs arise: • Segmented memory for analysis of laser pulses, radar bursts and serial packets. • Hardware-accelerated mask testing to quickly perform pass/fail analysis using known good waveforms. • Hardware-accelerated serial decoding and triggering for I²C, SPI, CAN, LIN, I²S, and RS-232. • Deeper memory, up to 1 M per channel. Electronic design and test teams in the aerospace, defense, automotive and wireless industries, among others, continue to produce increasingly sophisticated hardware. Engineers and technicians use oscilloscopes as their primary tools to test and debug those designs. In addition, educators need affordable, industry-grade oscilloscopes to help prepare the next generation of engineers for success. ■ Agilent www.agilent.com Meters Combine Highest Optical Performance and Large Data Storage in Compact Platform Agilent introduced the latest addition to its extensive optical power-meter portfolio. The two- channel N7747A and fourchannel N7748A bring the industry-leading sensitivity of the 81634B sensor module to the compact multichannel N77 platform, with updated memory size and data-transfer speed. The Agilent N7747A and N7748A optical power meters enable engineers to make parallel multiport measurements and monitor weak signals and small signal changes with high precision. They can detect power levels down to -110 dBm and log data at intervals down to 25 µs with up to 1 million points per channel. An equally large data buffer supports simultaneous measurement and data transfer. With these features the meters make it easy to monitor signal stability and transient events for long periods. Up to eight power-meter channels fit in a single 19-inch rack-height unit. Each channel also has a front-panel BNC connector that delivers analog output voltage proportional to the measured signal. Like the faster N7744A and N7745A, these new power meters can be used with N77xx viewer software for simple control and reading and are programmable with the same set of SPCI commands as the rest of Agilent‘s optical power-meter portfolio. Computer interfaces are provided for USB 2.0, LAN and GPIB. In addition to high sensitivity, low noise and solid stability, the N7747A and N7748A also provide high relative accuracy like the 81634B modules, with extremely low polarization dependence and spectral ripple as well as specified linearity. ■ Agilent www.agilent.com 44 hf-praxis 6/2013

RF & Wireless Software Agilent Integrates Device Modeling Flow with Shipment of Newest SPICE Model Extraction and Qualification Software flow across Agilent‘s device modeling platform and the ability to establish and enforce standard operating procedures for modeling in team environments. based custom model extraction environment. New MQA Features Agilent announced shipment of the latest release of its SPICE model extraction tool, Model Builder Program. MBP and MQA 2013 feature major enhancements designed to enable device modeling engineers to deliver higher-quality models to their customers. Chief among them are a fully integrated data One of MBP‘s new components, Model Reviewer, allows users to standardize various aspects of device modeling in team environments. Model Reviewer enables teams to standardize model extraction policies, setup of the extraction environment, data usage, parameter range enforcement and review procedures, among other things. Other new MBP capabilities include model extraction based on circuit-level figures of merit, built-in principal component analysis, and a GUI- MQA now offers full support for Agilent‘s GoldenGate RF circuit simulator, and Synopsys‘ FineSim tool. It also gives users the ability to benchmark SPICE libraries with various versions of a simulator, making it a breeze for simulator upgrade qualification. Additionally, a parallelrun mechanism enables MQA to deliver considerably faster performance. ■ Agilent www.agilent.com CST Studio Suite 2013 - Now Shipping Shipping has begun for CST Studio Suite 2013. CST Studio Suite comprises a range of EM simulation tools, including the industry-leading high-frequency package CST MICRO- WAVE STUDIO (CST MWS). CST Studio Suite is widely used by engineers working in fields ranging from communications and electronics to healthcare and aviation, helping them to model electromagnetic phenomena and evaluate their designs for optimal performance. Combining high-frequency and low-frequency simulation tools alongside specialized solvers for applications such as PCBs, cables and charged particle devices, CST Studio Suite can be applied to many typical engineering tasks, such as EMC/EMI evaluation, SI and PI analysis, design optimization, and the tuning of antennas and filters. The most obvious enhancement in the 2013 version is the Ribbon-based user interface. The Ribbon is centered on the standard simulation workflow, leading the engineer from setup and modeling to simulation and post-processing. The Ribbon is supplemented by new features, including the Project Wizard and QuickStart Guide, which make the process of preparing and configuring a new project straightforward. These changes are complemented by technological improvements behind-thescenes. Through CST’s close collaboration with Intel, the solver code has been optimized to boost performance on the latest generation of processors. To improve the versatility of the software, CST Studio Suite also includes brand-new analysis tools, such as cylinder scans and range profile sinograms. ■ CST AG www.cst.com EMV RFMW 24 GHz RF Absorber from MAST Technologies RFMW Ltd., announces design and sales support for a new line of microwave absorbing materials from MAST Technologies. These „Tuned Frequency“ absorbers are electrically optimized for specific applications and intended for customers who experience high frequency cavity resonance effects or high frequency EMI emissions above 18GHz. Proper application of the absorber eliminates these unwanted signals. This durable elastomeric material is flexible and will not crack, even in outdoor environments. Halogen free and RoHS compliant, the material is electrically non-conductive and can be placed in direct contact with electronic circuits. MAST model number MR11- 0041-00is tuned for absorption at 24GHz. The reflectivity vs. frequency graph shows the excellent performance of this material. Additional standard absorption frequencies are available and MAST has the ability to customize the material to specific, application dictated frequencies. MAST absorber material is available with or without a pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) backing. Standard sheet size is an economical 24 x 24 inches and 12 x 12 inch sheets are available. ■ MAST Technologies Stocking Distributor RFMW, Ltd. info@rfmw.com www.rfmw.com hf-praxis 6/2013 45
