RF & Wireless Wireless Skyworks Releases 5G Technology Paper Skyworks Solutions, Inc. released a new white paper, „5G in Perspective – A Pragmatic Guide to What‘s Next,“ providing the company‘s insights into the quickly evolving fifth generation (5G) global telecommunications standard. Current state of LTE The paper examines the current state of LTE networks, discusses ways it could evolve to deliver a 5G user experience, and identifies the tools and techniques required to support a 100x improvement in data throughput. Current projections suggest 5G data rates will approach 10 times the fastest 4G speeds of today. Leveraging its technology leadership and broad systems expertise, Skyworks, in partnership with customers and industry standards committees, is playing a critical role in defining next generation solutions to meet these requirements. Available now Skyworks‘ white paper, „5G in Perspective – A Pragmatic Guide to What‘s Next,“ is the first in a series to be released and is available now at www.skyworksinc. com/5G. ■ Skyworks Solutions, Inc. www.skyworksinc.com Products New 30...520 MHz Tunable Bandpass Filter R i c h a r d s o n R F P D , I n c . announced the availability and full design support capabilities for a new 30...520 MHz tunable bandpass filter and associated evaluation board from NewEdge Signal Solutions, Inc. RF & Wireless Smallest Quad-band LTE Cat M1 Module for multiregional IoT U-blox announced the world’s smallest quad-band LTE Cat M1 module, the u-blox SARAR410M. By enabling remote devices to connect directly to 4G networks, the u-blox SARAR410M will aid the rollout of Internet of Things (IoT) and machine-to-machine (M2M) applications, from smart metering to connected healthcare, and from industrial control and monitoring to smart buildings and cities. The 16 x 26 mm form factor enables designers to keep device sizes to a minimum and is the same as u-blox’ existing 2G and 3G modules. This means designers can easily migrate from earlier modules to take advantage of LTE Cat M1, smaller than discrete, PIN-diode solutions and eliminates thermal hysteresis. The adjustable input 1 dB compression point (limiting threshold) is set from 7 to 13 dBm via a low current control voltage (VCTRL), eliminating the need for external bias components such as DC blocking capacitors, RF choke inductors and bias resistors.
